PROBLEMS with mitsubishi WT-42413 projection tv?

My tv was working fine, then the screen flickered for a few seconds and now the picture still looks great in the middle, but about 6 inches on either side of the screen is showing doubled images. I already checked the color convergence screens and they are still aligned correctly, but the images on the sides of the screen are red offset from blue. the picture also is concave, being narrower in the middle of the screen and wider at the edges. What is causing this and is there a way to fix it myself and avoid overpriced repair charges?
