Sewing pattern question?

I am new to sewing & just finished a 'very easy' Vogue Pattern. For a new sewer, I did NOT find this pattern very easy. The directions were hard, there were tons of steps and how I did not enjoy the zipper. I actually think I'm giving away the dress to goodwill because the result isn't that great. I was just wondering if different pattern companies have different meanings for 'very easy', 'easy', etc. I'm wondering if Vogue is harder than the rest? Does anyone know of 'very easy' patterns that are actually very easy!?
